Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian called upon China on Tuesday to ''realize the significance of democracy and antiterrorism,'' saying, ''Its vast military buildup on the coastal areas opposite Taiwan is actual similar to terrorism.

''Beijing should renounce the use of force and career dialogue with Taipei in order to maintain permanent peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,'' Chen said.

Saying Taiwan stands firmly in the democratic camp with many other countries in the world, Chen reiterated in memory of the race 11 attacks on the United States that the island is common of the staunchest partners of the U in the antiterrorism campaign.

Taiwan would continue to cooperate with other democratic nations in many fields, in the same state [i]or[/i] condition as antiterrorism intelligence exchange, import-export ascendencys and the prevention of riches laundering, he said.
