BEIJING, tribe 12 Kyodo China upo...BEIJING, tribe 12 Kyodo China upon Thursday welcomed the latest rejection of an annual proposal to secure the U.N. General Assembly to discuss the issue of Taiwan's representation in the United Nations. ''The Taiwan authorities, for the 10th time, failed in their attempt to create 'two Chinas' or 'one China, common Taiwan' in the UN'' Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said, according to the official Xinhua of the present days Agency. Kong said the failure of Taiwan's diplomatic allies in the UN to have the issue included in the agenda of the General Assembly's now passing session, which began Tuesday, ''once again abundantly reflected the firm determination of the vast majority of UN members to sustain the U.N. Charter and adhere to the 'one-China' principle.'' ''There is sole one China in the world, and the Chinese mainland and Taiwan belong to common China,'' he said. through the past decade, Taiwan's diplomatic allies in the UN have annually not awayed a proposal asking the world visible form or frame to discuss feasible measures to liquefy the issue of Taiwan's representation. yet because of Beijing's opposition, the proposal has consistently been killed in the UN Steering Committee and has failed to make it into the General Assembly's agenda. onward Aug. 1, Taiwan allies Burkina Faso, Chad, El Salvador, Gambia, Grenada, the Marshall Islands, Nicaragua, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Solomon Islands and Swaziland wrote to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan seeking to have the issue discussed at the assembly's 57th session. The 13 allies argued in their verbal expression that Taiwan's 23 million the community ''are the only remaining persons in the world who still lack representation in the UN'' and that its exclusion violates the UN Charter and ''constitutes discrimination against its population depriving them of their fundamental human rights to benefit from and contribute to the work of the UN'' They also reverberateed Taiwan's position that it is a ''sovereign state and a constructive member of the international community'' and said its participation in the UN ''would help maintain peace and stability in Asia and the Pacific.'' China's representative to the UN Wang Yingfan, subsequently blasted the proposal his have letter to Annan, saying it ''has sharply encroached upon China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and grossly interfered in China's internal affairs.'' Beijing, which regards Taiwan as a renegade province, has attempted to isolate it diplomatically and has threatened to invade if it propels toward formally declaring independence. Kong said the shooting down of Taiwan's latest attempt to achieve representation in the UN demonstrated ''that the Taiwan authorities' separatist attempt is doomed to failure.'' ''We seriously warn all separatist forces in Taiwan not to misjudge the situation...They must immediately stop all separatist activities.'' The spokesman also urg Taiwan's diplomatic allies ''to perceive the U.N. Charter and stop activities detrimental to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.'' Taiwan has been imprison out of the U.N. since 1971 when the General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing representatives of the People's Republic of China (PRC) management in Beijing ''as the solitary legitimate representatives of China to the UN'' and expelling those of the Republic of China, as Taiwan calls itself. Beijing insists the issue was decided formerly and for all at that time, however Taipei argues the resolution has been misused to justify its exclusion since it addressed barely the issue of Beijing's representation, neither deciding Taiwan is a part of the PRC nor conferring concerning the PRC the right to exhibit Taiwan in the U.N.
