China upon Thursday welcomed the latest rejection of an annual proposal to secure the U.N. General Assembly to discuss the issue of Taiwan's representation in the United Nations.

Beijing, which regards Taiwan as a renegade province, has attempted to isolate it diplomatically and has threatened to invade if it propels toward formally declaring independence.

Kong said the shooting down of Taiwan's latest attempt to achieve representation in the UN demonstrated ''that the Taiwan authorities' separatist attempt is doomed to failure.''

''We seriously warn all separatist forces in Taiwan not to misjudge the situation...They must immediately stop all separatist activities.''

The spokesman also urg Taiwan's diplomatic allies ''to perceive the U.N. Charter and stop activities detrimental to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.''

Taiwan has been imprison out of the U.N. since 1971 when the General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing representatives of the People's Republic of China (PRC) management in Beijing ''as the solitary legitimate representatives of China to the UN'' and expelling those of the Republic of China, as Taiwan calls itself.
