U agent Secretary of State Richard Armitage held talks Friday with Indian Defense Minister George Fernandes as a part of his country's efforts to diffuse tension between nuclear rivals India and Pakistan.

Armitage, who arrived in novel Delhi in the morning from Colombo as a part of an Asian tour, met Fernandes for about an hour to discuss strategic and regional issues according to Defense Ministry sources. India is dissatisfied with the grades taken so far by Pakistan to bring an [i]finale[/i] to cross border infiltration and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir State.

The U delegate secretary of state's visit in June this year helped in easing the standoff between the India and Pakistan. Armitage had then assured India after his meeting with Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf that Islamabad will lay an end to cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The promise helped diffuse the biggest military crisis between the sum of two units since 1999.

While there was a reduction in infiltration in after weeks it has not stopped completely nor have the acts of terrorism stopped. And of recent origin Delhi is now skeptical of U efforts to persuade Pakistan to deposit an end to sponsoring terrorism in India's solely Muslim majority state.

India and Pakistan have fought couple of their three wars from one side of to the other Kashmir, which each political division claims.
