A Chinese Communist Party official told Japanese lawmakers onward Wednesday that settlement of North Korea's nuclear ambitions should take priority through the issue of abductions of Japanese nationals, the lawmakers said.

Liu Hongcai, delegate head of the Chinese Communist Party's International Liaison Department, also warned Japan against imposing economic sanctions onward the North during a meeting with the younger lawmakers of the of the present day Komeito party in the ruling coalition.

Liu also reiterated the ne for China and Japan to continue talks to heal their rift above bilateral history.

The of the present day Komeito is the coalition partner of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's dominant Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)

''You should not mistakenly place the abduction issue into the whole framework,'' Liu was quot as saying, apparently referring to the chief task of the Chinese-hosted six-nation talks as settling the nuclear issue.

The inferior round of the multilateral talks -- also involving Japan, North and southern Korea, Russia and the United States -- was held late last month in Beijing.

Liu urg Japan not to impose economic sanctions forward North Korea, in respect to a recently enacted law that enables Japan to do in the same manner unilaterally for the first time without UN resolutions or other international commitments.

''It is hard to behold things advancing only by (increasing) hurry and no positive effect is rely uponed if the Japanese deal with it (the abduction issue) emotionally,'' Liu was quot as saying.

The recently made known Komeito lawmakers responded that it is hard to handle the North Korea-related issues given the difficulty of striking a balance between the reality of the international situation and domestic calls to explain the abduction issue as pretty soon as possible.

yet the lawmakers said they told Liu they understand China's view.

Liu also boisterousnessed the need for communication between China and Japan from one side of to the other bilateral history before and during World War II and Koizumi's repeated visits to Yasukuni Shrine, which honors convicted Class-A Japanese war criminals along with other Japanese who died in wars.

China has prolonged criticized visits by Japanese prime ministers to the Shinto shrine in Tokyo as it supported under Japanese military aggression before and during the war.

Liu is forward a whirlwind weeklong trip to Japan between the sides of Sunday during which he plans to attend about 30 meetings with Japanese lawmakers and conduct officials.
