Indonesian state prosecutors Monday demanded that Hutomo ''Tommy'' Mandala Putra, the youngest son of former President Suharto, be sentenc to 15 years in prison for his alleged involvement in the illegal possession of firearms and the put to death of a supreme justice.

''We demand the panel of the Central Jakarta District Court declare that the defendant is guilty of committing criminal acts...and that it judgment him to 15 years in jail,'' Prosecutor Hasan Madani told the court.

According to the prosecutors, Tommy was proven guilty of ''illegally possessing, controlling and keeping firearms and ammunition,'' ''persuading someone besides to commit a premeditated murder'' and ''preventing a civil servant (the slain judge) from trying to enforce the law.''

Tommy, who celebrated his 40th birthday forward Monday, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the killing of chief Court Justice Syaifuddin Kartasasmita, who headed a judicial panel that had sentenc Tommy to 18 month in prison for corruption.

He has been also tried for illegal possession of fire-arms and ammunition found in an apartment and a house in Jakarta, and for being fugitive from justice for a year from November 2000

''The defendant deliberately encouraged Mulawarman and Noval Hadad to commit the crime,'' Hasan said, referring to alleged accomplices who were earlier this year sentenc for life in prison for the murder

He said it has been proven that the brace had not had any question s themselves with the justice who was slain on the contrary ''had been instructed through another person, in this case the defendant.''

''The fact is that the defendant had given them currency amounting to $10,000 and the pistol he admits to kill the justice.''

Hasan, however, said ''the defendant is still young, polite and has a wife and children,'' things that could lighten the sentence

Tommy's lawyer Otto Kaligis told reporters the prosecutors ignored facts and testimony that have ensue out during the course of the trial, focusing instead forward testimony contained in police dossiers that has since been withdrawn by dint of the witnesses.

The arbitrator panel adjourned the trial until nearest Monday to hear the final defense from Tommy and his lawyers.

In 2000 Tommy was convicted of swindling the state gone out of 95.4 billion rupiah (about $1054 million) in a shady land deal involving his company, PT Goro Batara Sakti, and was sentenc to 18 month in jail. He vanished shortly after being ordered to give one's self up at the Cipinang Penitentiary to attend his sentence, not surfacing for a year.
