At least 45 population were killed and some 130 others injured Tuesday when sum of two units armed men opened fire in succession a procession of Shiite mourners and following sectarian violence in Quetta, southern Pakistan, a senior rule official said.

''We have received a report that 45 race were killed and 120-130 injured'' in the attack onward the Shiite procession in the city, the official told Kyodo freshs by phone, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Reports reaching here said that a majority of those killed were members of the Shiite Hazara tribe living in succession the two sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Meanwhile, official Pakistan Television (PTV) reported that five policemen were among the 20 the community whose deaths have been officially confirmed in the way that far.

The provincial command appointed a high court arbitrator to investigate the incident and announced compensation for the families of the victims.

Several houses and vehicles were torched on the people who went forward rampage after the terrorist attack and clashes were reported in parts of the city between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.

According to eyewitnesses, sum of two units men opened fire on the procession in the main market area in the capital of Baluchistan Province and later blew themselves up with detonators.

After the shooting, Shiite mourners went forward a rampage in different parts of the city, setting fire to workshops and vehicles, and gunshot were heard.

Reliable sources said police arrested individual injured man for alleged involvement in the attack.

The city management imposed a curfew and armed forces were extended to maintain order, city officials said.

Shiites are conducting processions across the geographical division to observe the anniversary of the death of Imam Hussein, grandson of the prophet Muhammad, who died in Karbala in Iraq more than 1300 years ago.

Shiites constitute nearly 10% of Pakistan's population of about 130 million.
