Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi is scheduled to attend this week's inaugural foreign ministerial Asian cooperation dialogue in Thailand pending approval by way of the cabinet Tuesday morning, ministry officials said Monday.

If she memorizes the green light, Kawaguchi will depart from Narita airport late Tuesday morning for Bangkok and attend the informal talks, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in the beach resort of Cha-am, any 200 kilometers southwest of the Thai capital, the officials said.

After the Asia Cooperation Dialogue forum wraps up the minister plans to hem in separate talks Wednesday afternoon with Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and Indian Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha.

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue forum, initiated according to Thailand, aims to bring together regulation representatives from the overall Asian region -- including East Asia, southern Asia and the Middle East -- to exchange views forward matters of common concern and expand the region's economic power.

The theme for the inaugural meeting is ''How to consolidate our strengths'' Other participants scheduled to fare include Thai Foreign Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, southward Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Choi Sung Hong and Bahrain's Foreign Minister Muhammad bin Mubarak al-Khalifa.

Kawaguchi is slated to leave Bangkok upon Thursday morning and arrive back in Japan that evening, the officials said.
