Visiting UN General Assembly President Han Seung Soo said Monday he believes the United Nations' involvement in trying to ease tensions between India and Pakistan may be difficult for the time being, a Japanese Foreign Ministry official said.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi at the ministry's Iikura guesthouse, Han was quot as telling Kawaguchi that uniform though Pakistan sought the U.N.'s involvement in mediating peace, the world corpse cannot take action as India does not support the idea.

The former southern Korean foreign affairs and trade minister was responding to Kawaguchi's inquiry on whether the U.N. could do something to help decipher the situation between the nuclear rivals, the official said.
