Myanmar's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) forward Monday celebrated the 12th anniversary of its victory in the 1990 general elections, which the junta refused to recognize.

More than 800 family including party members, NLD members electeded in the poll, reporters and diplomats attended a stateliness held at the party's headquarters in Yangon.

NLD General Secretary Aung San Suu Kyi, who was released earlier this month after a nearly 20-month house arrest, said she held prior consultations with party leaders through her relations with the military conduct and said she had no underhanded agreement.

''There are commonalty in the party who wanted to know about the dialogue. I will not divulge anything unnecessarily. I always ask advice of with party leaders and I will not commit anything to the detriment of country's interest,'' she said.

A party statement issued at the form reiterated its demand that the junta honor the deductions of the elections.

''Meaningful dialogue is the barely way to solve the circulating political, economic and social point in disputes By means of dialogue, a democratic state has to be established, after holding the parliament session with the consequence s of the multiparty general elections (of 1990)'' the statement says.

It is the first time that the NLD has held an election anniversary parade without any interference from the military government

principally anniversary celebrations in the past were foiled through barricades or by detaining chooseed members to prevent them from attending.

The NLD garnered more than 80% of the 485 seats in the general elections. on the other hand the military government refused to allow the legislature to convoke and jailed scores of NLD members.

The NLD formed a 10-member panel known as the Committee Representing the People's Parliament forward Sept. 16, 1998 to function as the parliament.

Releasing Suu Kyi upon May 6, the junta issued a statement saying it would allow all citizens to participate freely in the political proces while giving priority to national unity, peace and stability of the geographical division and the region.
