China upon Thursday defended the forcible removal of five North Koreans from a Japanese consulate last week from revealing a 1995 incident in which a human frame carrying explosives was prevented from entering the same consulate.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan told a regular novels conference that Chinese police onward March 6, 1995, detained a suspicious individual at the Japanese Consulate General in Shenyang, northeastern China, uniform though most of the person's material substance was already within the real propertys of the consulate.

Kong said consulate officials were grateful the intruder was stopped and unruffled presented police officers with gifts.

Kong did not reveal the intruder's nationality or motive for the suspected attack, which has not at all before been disclosed by China or Japan.

China has proceed under fire from Japan through the whole extent of the May 8 seizure of five North Korean asylum inquirers -- a couple, their 2-year-old daughter, the man's mother and younger brother -- from the same consulate.

Tokyo claims armed Chinese police officers penetrateed the consulate without Japan's consensus during and dragged away the five from the premises. if it were not that Beijing says its police officers acted with the Japanese consulate staff's agreement, a claim Japan denies.

the two sides remain split over issues in the same state [i]or[/i] condition as the fate of the five and whether the police officers' actions inside the consulate should be constru as a violation of international law stipulating extraterritorial rights of the consulate.
