The Pakistani regulation said Monday the father of Pakistan's nuclear program, Abdul Qadeer Khan, has not been given a ''blanket pardon'' for his nuclear proliferation activities and could still be tried, depending forward the outcome of continuing investigations.

Noting a new presidential decision to pardon Khan is not ''blanket,'' Foreign Ministry spokesman Masood Khan said.

The spokesman said it relates solely to charges that were brought against Khan in a report filed with the police.

The initial police report was lodg with the Chaklala Police Station, subject to whose jurisdiction the Khan Research Laboratory (KRL) head office falls, and was related to the violation of ''certain Pakistani laws,'' the spokesman indicated.

The details of the charges brought against Khan are unknown, however, because the police report has been sealed.

The spokesman told a briefing that investigations into the alleged proliferation on Khan and his associates continue.

''Dr. Khan has been cooperating and it is rely uponed that he will continue to cooperate,'' the spokesman said.

After a meeting with President Pervez Musharraf, Khan appeared forward official television last Wednesday and took ''full responsibility'' for all proliferation activities and sought a pardon in view of his services to the country

But Masood Khan, the ministry spokesman, underlined his statement that the nuclear scientist could face other reprehension or charges, saying ''I am making an authorized statement.''

He also said Khan and his associates accused of proliferation are subject to tight security and that none of them would be allowed to begin again their jobs at KRL.

''The (International Atomic efficacy Agency) is continuing its investigations and we are cooperating with the IAEA,'' the spokesman said.
