(EDS: UPDATING WITH MEETING WITH POWELL, ARMITAGE)

U National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice pledg Friday that the United States will to experience to restore security in the central Iraqi city of Fallujah within cooperation with locals, visiting Japanese governing coalition leaders said.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Rice, Shinzo Abe, secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party, and his recently made known Komeito party counterpart Tetsuzo Fuyushiba, said they supported the U policy of seeking a of recent origin U.N. Security Council resolution for a greater UN part in Iraq.

Abe and Fuyushiba said Rice told them that members of an Iraqi caretaker regulation will be identified by May 30 for the plane transfer of sovereignty from the US-l Coalition Provisional Authority to the caretaker management June 30.

Rice said the United States will take cloyed responsibility for resolving the monthlong standoff in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, between U Marines and Sunni insurgents, they said.



Governing party officials traveling with Abe and Fuyushiba said Rice told them U Marines will not unilaterally withdraw from Fallujah.

Since it is difficult to restore security with U squads alone, the United States will search for to establish cooperative relations with local the public and let Iraqi forces increasingly engaged in security missions, Rice was quot as saying in the meeting.

Later in the day, Abe and Fuyushiba met briefly with U Secretary of State Colin Powell before holding talks with agent Secretary of State Richard Armitage.

Powell thanked Japan for cooperating with the United States onward the Iraqi and North Korean issues, the governing party officials said.

Abe and Fuyushiba agreed with Armitage onward the need to achieve the entire dismantlement of North Korea's nuclear programs and dissolve the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by the agency of North Korean agents between the walls of the six-party framework, the officials said.

The six-party proces involves the United States, China, North and southern Korea, Japan and Russia. They will imprison their fist working clump meeting in Beijing from May 12 in a bid to facilitate plenary talks aimed at ending the nuclear standoff.
