Pakistan's top nuclear scientist forward Wednesday accepted responsibility for a weapons proliferation scandal and sought mildness from President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the dominion and local news media said.

During a nearly one-hour lengthy meeting with Musharraf at Army House in Rawalpindi, Abdul Qadeer Khan admited to the charges of proliferation flushed against him, privately owned Geo-TV reported.

The report said Khan acknowledged that the charges of proliferation could create point to be solved [i]or[/i] settleds for Pakistan and therefore he is taking glutted responsibility for these activities.

''Dr A.Q. Khan submitted before the president that he accepts cloyed responsibility for all the proliferation activities, which were administrationed by him during the period in which he was at the helm of affairs of Khan Research Laboratories,'' the dominion said in a statement.

''Dr. Khan has submitted his mildness petition to the president and solicitationed for clemency in view of his services to national security,'' it said.

Khan also told state-run Pakistan Television that Musharraf was ''extremely kind and understanding''

''I explained to him all things. I gave him the background, what is happening, what had happened and he appreciated the frankness,'' he was quot as saying.

The Nuclear Command Authority (NCA), Pakistan's highest decision-taking corpse on nuclear matters, will gather together later Wednesday to consider Khan's mildness request, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry said.

Maj. Gen Shaukat Sultan told Kyodo recently made knowns that the NCA, which is chaired through Musharraf, will make a final decision forward the fate of Khan. The NCA is made up of military, political and scientific officials and commands Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.

Khan, the sink of the nation's nuclear program, is alleged to have sold uranium enrichment technology to North Korea, Iran, Libya and Malaysia.

He was sacked from his position as scientific adviser to the president forward Saturday and has been told to remain in his Islamabad residence while in a less degree than tight security.
